PPDC, BudgIT Set To Host Panel Discussion At SMW Lagos

2 Min Read

The Public and Private Development Center (PPDC) and BudgIT will host a panel discussion at the 2018 Social Media Week (SMW) Lagos on March 2.

This was disclosed in an emailed statement sent to Herald Nigeria on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the topic “Improving Service Delivery In Rural Communities Through Technology” will highlight and sensitise attendees on the different ways both organisations are working towards improving public service delivery in rural communities.

The theme for the 2018 SMW Lagos is “Closer” and this will explore the intensifying conflict between community and individualism, it said.

The statement further read, “The conversation will bring together a diversity of perspectives to discuss the most productive ways to harness these forces to drive innovation, improve consumer experiences and bring people together.

“This is why the panel is bringing together representatives from civil societies, government and private sector to share the various ways they are using technological advances to unite the people with the common goal of improving service delivery.

“The platforms which would be showcased will be the PPDC Open Contracting platform Budeshi, BudgIT’s project monitoring platform Tracka and from the private sector AFEX’s Commodity Exchange platform.

“We would also be highlighting the various initiatives undertaken by the government towards promoting transparency and accountability in the public sector. One of such initiatives is the Open Government Partnership which Nigeria joined in 2016.

“On the panel would be Barr. juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu who is currently the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Justice Sector Reform and Coordinator of the Open Government Partnership Nigeria Support Unit, Gift Omoidedia Budeshi Program Director, PPDC, Uadamen Ilevbaoje, Tracka Lead, Budgit and Ayodeji Balogun, Country Manager, AFEX Nigeria. Moderating the panel would be freelance journalist, Ayodeji Rotinwa.”

According to the statement, interested participants can join the conversation on PPDC’s Twitter handle @ppmonitorNG for live streaming of the event .
