Why I Stopped Making Music – Kas

3 Min Read

Kas singer and producer who was on top the music game in 2010, disappeared from the music scene and it was later reported that he had become a pastor in England. It was alleged that he left music because it wasn’t paying his bills any longer and frustration had set in like such has happened with several music stars.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Kas refuted such claims.

“People need to analyse me properly because I am highly blessed. I have a house in England, and I have houses in Surulere and Lekki, Lagos. I am sure you know what that means but I don’t need to put that in the news. If I don’t do music, I am still very comfortable.

“Music is a passion for me and I cannot run from it forever; people can say whatever they want to say. I left the industry in 2013 because I had to find myself spiritually. Music and my spiritual life are both important to me.”

He also stated that he didn’t make his wealth from illegal means as he was born into a rich home. “I am a straightforward person. My mother is very rich and I have lived in England for years. I don’t need to steal or do something stupid to get money. I also made money from music and I invested in series of businesses. I don’t need to dip my hands into dark places to get money,” he said.

Kas, who plans to hold a welcome back concert later today, said he would be releasing a single before the month ends. According to him, the single, Mr. Owowole, is a follow-up to his hit song, ‘Fimile’

“When I sang Fimile, I was going through a lot of stress. My friend betrayed me and I had issues with my personal life. It was my way of telling people to let me be; I just added ‘baby’ to make it sound commercial. The new song means I am anointed, but I titled it Mr. Owowole so that people can easily relate to it.

“The difference between Kas of then and now is the lyrics. However, I don’t plan to sing gospel music because the most important thing is to glorify God. We are too religious in Nigeria and that is a big problem. If you do a song that inspires people to do well, that is gospel music. I don’t care if the church accepts my music or not.

“I acknowledge that there is just one God and he has favoured me. If you don’t like what I sing as a person, you don’t need to listen to it,” he said.
