3 Min Read

Moshood Adigun a security guard at Oko Agbon, Iwaya, Yaba area of Lagos, has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for allegedly killing his colleague, Ahmed Oyesiji.

Moshood, allegedly killed Oyesiji for refusing to give him N500.

Adigun reportedly borrowed N4,000 from the victim and had not repaid him.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the relationship between the guards became pear-shaped around 8am on Monday over the sharing of N1,000 gift a passerby gave them at their duty post.

The victim allegedly kept the money as he was on night duty and wanted to use it in closing from work in the morning. The suspect, however, asked him for a N500 share and Oyesiji reportedly refused, saying he would use his share to alleviate some of the debt.

A resident, called Mayowa, said a fight ensued during which Adigun smashed a bottle and stabbed Oyesiji in the neck.

He said, “They worked as security guards in the community. Moshood (Adigun) owed Ahmed (Oyesiji) N4,000. Somebody gave them N1,000 while they were on duty on Monday. Instead of them to share the money, Ahmed said he would not give Moshood his share. He said Moshood’s debt remained N3,500. They argued over it and fought.
“After they were separated, Moshood went for a bottle, broke it and stabbed him in the neck. He was bleeding heavily and within five minutes, he died.”

Kehinde, the deceased’s elder sister, said her brother was a likeable and diligent man, and that he was also into Disk Jockey business.

Kehinde Lamented about how painful his death was and added that he had no child who could have been a solace to them. She urged the police to bring the suspect to justice.

“He was 27 years old and was very hard-working. He was a DJ and a lot of people know him in the community and environs.

“He was returning home from work that morning when his colleague ran after him. He (Adigun) stabbed him in the back because my brother refused to give him N500 out of N1,000 somebody gifted them. Meanwhile, he owed my brother N4,000 which he did not want to refund.

“Our mother lives in Abeokuta, Ogun State. She is aware of his death and is very devastated. Ahmed is very precious to us.”

SP Chike Oti the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer has stated that investigations into the incident had commenced.

“The suspect stabbed and killed his colleague over a minor disagreement. He has been arrested and investigation is in full swing. The case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the SCIID.”
