We Don’t Want You In PDP – Kwara Youths Tell Saraki, Others

2 Min Read

Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has been warned to steer clear of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

This is after rumours circulated that Saraki; his former special adviser on Special Duties and Parliamentary Affairs, Alhaji Moshood Mustapha (alias MM); and other associates of the Senate President planned to defect from the All Progressives Congress to the PDP ahead of the 2019 general election in the country.

Some youths who protested in the Kwara state capital, Ilorin on Monday expressed their disapproval of the purported defection, stating the Saraki was planning to hijack the machinery of the party in the state.

The youths were said to have got wind of information that Saraki was allegedly plotting to install one of his cronies as the governor under the platform of the PDP.

The youths wielded placards expressing their disapproval of the planned move.

According to The Punch, some of the inscription on the placards displayed by the youths were: ‘No to Bukola Saraki and cronies in the PDP,’ ‘MM defection is a liability,’ ‘PDP exco, shine your eyes,’ and ‘PDP gov ticket is not for sale.’

Saraki had in 2014, alongside 11 other senators, defected to the APC from the PDP and communicated their decision to then Senate President, Sen. David Mark.

However, Saraki had in a December 5, 2017 interview with The Punch denied that he was going back to the PDP.

Saraki  through his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, also asked why a National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu would not be asked if he would be going back to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) too.
