The Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah has withdrawn State Security Service operatives from international airports across the country.
The directive was issued to the Director General of the Service weeks ago and has befuddled security agents and consultants in the country being that the role of the SSS is to prevent, detect and investigate terrorism, subversion and espionage in the country. Airports are a big conduit for the proliferation of these sort of activities and SSS presence is felt to be required in these hubs in order to nip such activities in the bud.
The Aviation ministry is yet to communicate the reason for this move to stakeholders.
