The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professor Ishaq Oloyede has announced the Board’s decision to join forces with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to confront the issue of corruption and exam malpractice.
“We as a body have resolved not to partake in any form of corruption and I also would appeal to all Nigerians to put whatever grievances against the leadership of the EFCC aside and join the commission.” said the Registrar on Tuesday when the Board was paid a visit by the EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Magu in Bwari, Abuja.
While advising members of the public service to be efficient in their duties and shun any acts that could have them jailed, Prof Ishaq called on people to appreciate the efforts of the EFCC
“Let us appreciate what the Commission is doing; I commend their dedication; it is a risky job of which one must be ready to face the consequences that may follow, especially in a society where corruption is endemic.”
Ibrahim Magu was full of gratitude to JAMB for agreeing to pitch their tent with the Commission to discover loopholes causing corruption to thrive. He believed that every Nigerian had an obligation to be involved in the fight to cease corruption. Magu also seized the opportunity to ask the media to make the public aware of the dangers posed by corruption.
Present at the meeting were Dr Yusuf Lawal a Director of Test Administration (JAMB) who restated JAMB’s commitment to end corruption in the educational sector. Also in attendance were several staffers of the EFCC and other JAMB Directors.
