Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly has urged Nigerians to thank former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said Jonathan deserved special commendation for preventing a “bloodbath” when he chose to vacate the office of president after losing the 2015 election to Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Guardian, the popular cleric made this known at a Town Hall meeting with members of the Nigerian community on the platform of PTB (Pastor Tunde Bakare ) 4 Nigeria, at Tottenham Town Hall, England on Saturday.
He also said that, contrary to calls for him to step down at the end of his tenure in 2019, Buhari was free to seek reelection.
Bakare said Buhari’s “health has improved” and “he has the right to contest again if he wishes to”.
The televangelist further noted that the future of the nation lies in restructuring and reformation of the civil service.
He said Buhari had seen the need for restructuring.
“Education in shambles did not start with Buhari, health care delivery in shambles did not start with Buhari, the infrastructural deficit did not start with Buhari.
What many people are saying is that there was corruption under Jonathan, yes, but life was better. At least we were able to get this, but this man cornered all the money, locked it up.
He’s not releasing anything, so let’s fight him to a standstill. That’s what some people are saying. That’s the reaction of many”, Bakare said
