Fashola Pleads For Advise To Use 2000 Megawatts Stranded On National Grid

1 Min Read

The Minister of Power, Works on Housing, Babatunde Fashola has urged Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to provide advise on how the 2,000 megawatts ‘stranded’ on the national grid can be accessed and utilised.

Fashola said the focus should be on how the power stranded on the national grid could be efficiently distributed to power homes and businesses across the nation.

He said, “The reality is that we have 7,000MW and we are selling 5,000MW. So, the conversation we should be having is how to connect to the remaining 2,000MW.”

The minister said this Friday in Abuja at an interactive session with CSOs and other stakeholders on the Power Sector Recovery Programme (PSRP) of the Federal Government.

PSRP is a comprehensive programme of policy, legal, regulatory, operational and financial interventions that will restore service efficiency and long-term power sector viability.

The measures that will be implemented through 2021 are aimed at improving transparency, service delivery and re-establishing investor confidence, and hence, investment in the sector.
