Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau on Tuesday signed the 2018 appropriation bill of N146.4 billion into law.
Lalong said in Jos that the budget showed an increase of N918 million, which represented 0.63 per cent from the initial N145.5 billion, presented to the state Assembly on Dec. 20.
He said that the increase was as a result of the inclusion of monies for constituency projects and other critical areas of needs that warranted such expenditure.
The governor said N70.5 billion, which represented 48.16 per cent of the total budget, would be for capital expenditure while N75.9 billion, representing 51.84 per cent, would go for recurrent.
Lalong added that the budget christened, “Budget of Rescue and Consolidation” would further consolidate the gains so far achieved by his administration.
He appreciated the House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill, adding that the speed was a record time in the history of the state. (NAN)
