An attack on two Kaduna villages by suspected Fulani herdsmen has least no fewer than 10 persons dead and several others with gunshot wounds.
The Friday night attack occurred in Dangaji and Ungwan Gajere villages of Birnin Gwari LGA.
According to TheCable, the marauding herdsmen were said to have burnt houses and wreaked havoc as many villagers fled to safety.
“It is unfortunate that since on Friday night we encountered the attack of herdsmen in Dangaji village.
“They were shooting and burning houses and people had to run for their dare lives,” said a community leader in one of the villages, as reported by TheCable.
“This morning (Saturday ) they went to another village, Unguwan Gajere and killed about nine men. One of those wounded died on the way to the hospital.”
Confirming the incident, Kaduna State Police Command PRO, Husseini Mukhtar said only five people, mainly members of the vigilante group, were killed.
He added that a joint police and military team has launched a manhunt for the attackers.
