Trump Blames Obama Administration For Cancelled Trip To London

2 Min Read

Donald Trump has stated that his trip to London has been canceled and it is due to a move by the Obama administration.

“Reason I canceled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration having sold perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for ‘peanuts,’ only to build a new one in an off location for 1.2 billion dollars. Bad deal. Wanted me to cut ribbon-NO!” Trump tweeted.

However, the news agency Reuters found out that the decision to move embassies, which was also stated on the embassy’s website, was in fact taken before Obama became President.

Obama was elected president in January 2009 and the decision for the embassy move was in October 2008 due to security threats.

Sarah Sanders, the white house press secretary, however, has refuted the news that the trip has been canceled stating:
“The invitation was made [by U.K.] and we accepted. We are still finalizing dates for the state visit.” Though no date has been specified for this visit.

Theresa May the British Prime Minister has already invited Trump last year sometime after she became the first foreign leader to visit him when he took office.

Donald Trump’s trip is supposed to take place in February, around the opening of the new embassy.
