A policeman, Oludele Olosunde, has been arrested for beating his son to death over missing N2,000.
The suspect reportedly committed the act in his home in Rasak Okunola Avenue, Ijagemo, in the Ijegun area of Lagos on Wednesday, January 3.
According to The Punch, the suspect immediately buried the 17-year-old victim at the Apapa Cemetery.
The victim had just gained admission into Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, and was supposed to resume on Monday, January 8.
The suspect, who is attached to the Kirikiri Prison Division, reportedly accused the victim of stealing his missing money on January 2.
By evening after returning from work, he took the victim inside the house and starting flogging him, urging him to confess.
The victim reportedly collapsed during the beating and was taken to an auxiliary nurse in the area. He reportedly died the next day.
According to a witness, the suspect found the missing money after the victim’s death.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesman, Chike Oti, confirmed the incident, describing it as a case of manslaughter.
