Mr. Peter Obi former governor of Anambra State, has insisted that the Federal Government declare a state of emergency on the economy.
The former Governor made the statement through his media arm, Mr. Val Obienyem on Monday during his new years message.
“It become necessary because of the dwindling indices of growth and development in recent times.” The governor said.
Obi has appealed with Nigeria and her leaders to concentrate on improving the economy pointing out the rate at which jobs are being lost in 2017.
“Over four million Nigerians lost their jobs in 2017 and the unemployment rate increased from 14% to 19%. We also witnessed nonpayment of salaries, contractors and suppliers all over the country all of which should be worrisome to us.”
