Police commander Neil Jerome stated

“It is heart-breaking that, at a time when so many of us are contemplating what lies ahead in 2018, four families are dealing with the grief of losing a loved one to senseless violence and the callous use of knives as lethal weapons.”

There have been almost 12,100 knife attacks in London in the year to March 2017, and more than 4,400 people injured according to police records.

In between Jan. 1 and Dec. 22  77 people died from stabbings according to a spokesperson for the metropolitan police
