Teacher And Ex-Policeman Use DNA Tests to Determine Winner Of Lottery Jackpot

1 Min Read

An ex-cop, Charoon Wimon and a Thai teacher Preecha Kraikruan, have gotten into a legal spat over who is to win a close to $1M lottery prize.

The 50-year-old teacher claimed that he had misplaced his 5 winning lottery tickets from the previous month, However, it was gathered that the $920,000 prize money had already claimed by the 62-year-old prior police officer in the western Kanchanaburi province.

A DNA test is being run by forensic police to reveal whose whose finger prints are on the stub of the tickets.

The deputy Kanchanaburi provincial police commander Krissana Sapdet stated “No one has been charged yet in this case as we have to wait for the DNA test results.”

Forensic experts have said the results are expected next month. The twice a month government run lottery draw has a large following in a country where most forms of gambling are forbidden. Superstitious citizens patronise “lottery numerologists” to predict ticket numbers, predictions are often tied to special dates or other auspicious events.
