A man pretending to be mentally ill narrowly escaped lynching by an irate mob after he was found with some incriminating materials in Ilorin, Kwara state.
According to various social media reports, the man was found with a cheque of N100 million, pictures he allegedly took with top politicians in Nigeria, four automated teller machine cards, male and female condoms, Valium injections and Infinix Hot 5 phone.
The man, whose name and age could not be ascertained, was allegedly found with the materials around the state Ministry of Environment and Forestry along the Ahmadu Bello Way in Ilorin after a search.
Eyewitnesses said the fake madman would have been lynched but for the intervention of another man donned in a native attire.
The mob was said to have queried how a madman got a N100 million cheque and had begun to make frantic efforts to lunch the madman who many believed to be a ritualist and kidnapper before the other man’s intervention.
The State Police Command has yet to confirm the incident.
