Arsenal are in talks to sign Miroslav Klose from Lazio, according to Goal.com.
The website claims the Gunners’ chief negotiator Dick Law is in Rome to finalise a deal for the veteran Germany international.
Klose is 35 but is expected to be in Joachim Loew’s squad for next summer’s World Cup and remains a regular scorer for both club and country.
The Poland-born forward is his country’s record scorer with 68 goals in 130 appearances and he has netted over 200 career goals at club level for FC Kaiserslauten, Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and the Italians.
The Gunners are in the hunt for a new striker to provide competition for Olivier Giroud, with Nicklas Bendtner unfancied and summer signing Yaya Sanogo perennially injured.
The North London club will not conclude a deal for Schalke wonderkid Julian Draxler this window but are closing in on the signing of another experienced veteran, Kim Kallstrom, as Wenger looks to add experience and winning mentality to his young but talented squad.
