We employ qualified teachers in Police School -NPF

2 Min Read

The Nigeria Police Force said on Wednesday that it only recruited well-qualified specialised teachers in various fields, to teach specific subjects in its schools.

Mr Ajao Emmanuel, Deputy Director, Human Resources, Police Headquarters, Abuja, made the remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Emmanuel said that police schools in the country had continued to maintain a high standard because its system of teaching was different from others.

He said that specialised teachers handled specialised subjects, unlike in other schools where a teacher teaches virtually all subjects.

“In Police Education, a teacher teaches his or her subject and go, and another comes and teach his or her own and go,” he said.

Emmanuel noted that the training and retraining of teachers was a regular policy in the Police Schools, to improve the teaching and the non-teaching staff academically, administratively and otherwise.

“Training and retraining in Police Education is a regular exercise conducted year in and out in groups, and in accordance with the specialisation of our staff .

“Sometimes in 2016, over 100 French teachers were sent to the Republic of Benin for a three-week training; while no fewer than 100 teachers were also sent to Togo for training in 2015.

“The bursars were in Abuja for a week training in accounting; head teachers also had their own training and we usually send our staff to the Administrative Staff College in Badagry for training, ” the official said .

Emmanuel, however, lauded the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for always giving ‘express approval’ to teachers’ entitlements, as this had been a source of motivation to them.
