Yauri Emirate Youth Fault el Rufai on Teachers mass sack

El-Rufai

A group, Yauri Emirate Youth Association For Political Development (YEYAPOD) has faulted Kaduna state governor el Rufai over the sacking of more than 20,000 teachers for their failure to pass primary four exams.

The group said in a statement sent to Herald NG said even though the teachers were found wanting, there were better ways for el Rufai to demonstrate leadership in handling their short comings.

The statement signed by the secretary of the group Jabi Abubakar reads, “Your Excellency Sir, Sacking twenty thousand teachers at a time is an embarrassing mistake that may have irreversible damage to Kaduna State and Northern Nigeria at large.

“The pretext on which the intended disengagement plan was based is groundless and unfounded, experts warn, If such crucial issues are to be analyzed within the boundary of rationality, the followings should be considered before taking such catastrophic decision,

(1) The quality of Nigerian Educational System, every body knows that most the Nigerian institutions from which these teachers graduated is not such that can produce teachers with qualitative knowledge (No adequate teaching and learning materials in our institutions, no conducive learning environment and even the educators are in constant tussle of entitlements with the authority)

(2) The condition of service in our primary and secondary schools do not encourage teachers in efficient service delivery as no adequate research materials in our government owned schools

(3) The meagerness of civil servants remuneration in our country is inimical enough to effective service delivery.

These may be some of the factors that can hinder effective service delivery and the best and rational solutions if we may suggest should be,

(1) Organizing special and professional training to teachers as it is the previous government that failed to equip learning institutions with required learning equipments that will facilitate our today teachers learning process

(2) Providing teachers with adequate research and teaching instruments (3) Increment of remunerations of teachers to encourage efficient service delivery We hope Northern Governors will offer an advisory role to this matter and never think of adopting such irrational decision in their home states.
