The Police Command in Rivers said on Wednesday, that it had beefed up security at its headquarters and its environs due to“security challenge.”
The Police Public Relations Officer for the command Dsp. Nnamdi Omoni, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt.
NAN reports that as a result of the development, visitors to the command’s headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, were scrutinised before allowed to enter the premises.
Two police personnel were seen stationed at the pedestrian gate of the command and asked questions concerning the department they intended to visit and made to write their names and given tags.
The development generated long queue of visitors at the gate as visitors were also not allowed to enter the premises with their cellphones.
Before now, visitors usually go in with their cell phone except those visiting the Commissioner of Police, who were made to write their names, address and the department they were going to.
