Good Samaritan Brian DiCarlo found an envelope containing $2,000 in cash and a cashier’s check for $38,000 in a Portland parking lot and helped return it to its rightful owner, Sharon Davis.
His good deed helped her sign the deed.
Oregon man Brian DiCarlo found an envelope loaded with $2,000 cash and a cashier’s check for $38,000 in a supermarket parking lot last week.
Luckily for Sharon Davis — who was going to use the money as a down payment on a house — DiCarlo has high moral fiber.
DiCarlo’s conscience quick kicked in and he called the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office to report the missing envelope, according to KPTV.

Davis planned to use the cash and check to make a down payment on a house — but she realized the envelope was missing as she returned to her car from Starbucks.
“My first thought is that this person, whoever it is, is a wreck, and they are probably losing their mind trying to retrace their steps,” he told the station.
Meanwhile, Davis frantically searched the parking lot at the intersection of Southeast 122nd and Sunnyside Rd. after grabbing a cup of coffee.
“I was so stunned and so stressed, I swear I was going to have a heart attack or a stroke,” Davis told KATU.

Davis was still searching the Safeway parking lot at Southeast 122nd and Sunnyside Rd. when sheriff’s officers told her it had been found.
Police were able to locate Davis based on the paperwork inside the envelope, the station reported. The woman was still scouring the parking lot for her check and cash.
“What a good and amazing man,” a relieved Davis told KPTV.
DiCarlo said he never thought of keeping the cash for himself. He later received a phone call from a grateful Davis and a $300 reward, KATU reported.
“I think I do believe that at the time, I was the exact person who needed to be there at that exact time to pick it up, because maybe someone else wouldn’t have done the same thing that I did,” DiCarlo later told the station.
