The Rivers State Government has claimed that the rubber bullet which struck Senator Magnus Abe was meant for Governor Rotimi Amaechi who was initially billed to be at the event.
Rivers State commissioner of information, Ibim Semenitari disclosed that the attempt to shoot Governor Amaechi lent credibility to the fact that the Federal Government was training or has trained snipers which are meant to take out the political enemies of the President ahead of the 2015 elections.
“The Rivers State government has it on good authority that Senator Abe took the bullet originally meant for Governor Chibuike Amaechi who was billed to be present at the event,” Ms. Semenitari said in a statement.
“This is disconcerting especially in the light of recent revelations that the presidency may be training snipers ahead of the 2015 elections and that Governor Amaechi is top on the list of those to be eliminated.”
