NGO lauds Kaduna Govt. for upgrading health facilities, recruiting workers

A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Family Health Advocates in Nigeria Initiative (FHANI) has lauded the efforts of Kaduna State Government for upgrading 255 ward health facilities and recruiting 600 health workers.

Its Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Muhammad-Makarfi made the commendation at a one-day sensitisation seminar on family health held at Local Government Secretariat, Sabongari, Zaria on Friday.

Muhammad-Makarfi, who spoke through Hajiya A’isha Ahmed, one of the officials of the NGO, said the commendation was necessary in view of the importance of health to human existence.

He said the state government recently recruited about 600 nurses, Midwives and other health workers to work in the 255 primary facilities with a view to boosting family health.

 

 

He said the work, when completed will bring health facilities closer to the people for effective and quality services across the state.

The chairman said FHANI is an NGO that works with other organisations to assist members of the society with useful information on their health needs.

“We assist the society by informing them about government health programmes and informing government about their health problems.”

While advising husbands to allow their wives to go to hospitals when necessary, Muhammad-Makarfi stressed the for pregnant women to embrace antenatal services.

 

 

The Sole Administrator, Sabongari Local Government, Alhaji Dalhatu Suleiman said both Kaduna State and Sabongari Local Governments were doing their best to ensure provision of quality health services to residents.

He said while government supply free drugs to primary health facilities some other drugs were being supplied at subsidised rates.

Suleiman called on people to endeavour to eat balanced diet and engage in physical fitness to live a healthy life.

The Iyan Zazzau, Alhaji Bashar Aminu, represented by Makaman Iya, Alhaji Tukur Alhassan, recalled that in those days people respected and practiced child-spacing than now adays.

“In the past, our parents respected child spacing more than nowadays, at least two to three years in between.

The royal father stressed the need for women to embrace child-spacing for the good health of both mothers and the children.
