Oshoala bemoans Falcons’ lack of Games

2 Min Read

The two-time CAF African women’s Footballer of the year, Asisat Oshoala has let out her annoyance and frustration at the lack of matches for the nation’s senior women football team – Super Falcons.

The Dalian Quanjian FC forward latched out on Twitter, questioning the visions of those tasked with the administration of football in the country.

“Over 8 months without regrouping. THIS IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE. What Is Our Vision? We need an explanation,” She poured on her twitter page.

The Super Falcons haven’t met to kick a ball since their record-setting 10th Women’s African Cup of Nations triumph in last December that was followed by a public protest of non-payment of allowances.

Asisat was seconded in her complaint by teammate, Desire Oparanozie, the scorer of the lone goal against Cameroon in the Final, who let out her vexation on her Instagram page. She pointed that the lack of commitments from the blokes at the ‘White house’ has allowed other African countries cover the gaping distance between them and the Super Falcons.

“Over 8 months indeed. Since after Nations cup no form of regrouping whatsoever. Which way Nigeria Football Federation? Other African nations have caught up with us, we’re still a shadow of ourselves on the world stage….yet it doesn’t bother the people leading us. Let’s build for the younger generation. We need international/quality friendlies” She posted on her Instagram page.

Although it’s until 2018 before the Falcons get to next feature in a major tournament, there are World Cup Qualifiers and Olympic Qualifiers in the waiting for the African champions.
