President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday received briefing from the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma and the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun on the improving state of the economy.

The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina made this known in a statement issued in Abuja, on Monday.

Adesina said that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele also briefed the President on the activities of the apex bank.

He said that the ministers and the CBN governor updated the president on the implementation of the 2017 budget, preparation for the 2018 Budget, revenue strategies, combined cost reduction and debt management.

“Also discussed were monetary policy strategies and their economic impact, among others.’’

The presidential aide revealed that President Buhari, after the briefing, declared that he was pleased with the progress being made on ifferent fronts.

“President Buhari, while reminding the ministers and CBN governor that reviving the economy was one of the major planks on which the campaign of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was voted in, expressed gladness that things were looking up after two years of yeoman’s job.’’

Adesina quoted the Buhari as urging the ministers and the CBN governor to keep at it, noting that the main aim of government was to bring succour to Nigerians across all walks of life.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members of the National Security Council had on Tuesday updated the President on prevailing security situation in the country.

He directed them at the meeting to safeguard the lives and property of all citizens and secure the nation’s borders from aggressors.
