A former Minster of Finance in the country, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been appointed as an independent non-executive director at the Standard Chartered Plc in the United Kingdom.
The latest appointment as an independent top executive at the financial institution will place the former minister on a payroll of £130,000 per year.
The Standard Chartered PLC is a known British multinational banking and financial services company that boasts of presence in 70 countries.
The financial institution has its headquarters in London.
The company in a statement released yesterday stated that the former Minister’s appointment takes effect as from November, 2017.
The statement further revealed that the former finance minister will be placed on an annual income of £130,000 per annum being payment for her expertise in financial and development financing.
In the statement released, the Chairman of the bank, José Viñals, stated: “Ngozi is a globally recognised African figure. She has significant geopolitical, economic, risk and development experience and expertise at a national governmental level and in international organisations, which will provide significant insight and value to the Board. She also has deep knowledge of Africa as well as emerging and developing markets. I am delighted to welcome her to Standard Chartered.”
