A/Ibom Assembly passes N114.5bn supplementary budget

The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly at plenary on Thursday passed the 2017 Supplementary Budget of N114.5 billion.

The supplementary budget is made up of N111.5 billion for capital expenditure while N3 billion is for recurrent expenditure.

Gov. Udom Emmanuel on July 25, sent a supplementary budget of N114 billion to the state legislature for approval but the lawmakers increased the estimate by N. 5 billion.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Onofiok Luke, said the additional funds would be used to construct a Standard Press Centre and clinic at the State House of Assembly.

 

 

The House had on March 9, passed a N371. 29 billion appropriation for 2017.

Also at plenary, an executive bill seeking to reintroduce the contributory pension scheme for all workers in the state and local government service and the private sector passed the first reading.

The House also ratified the appointment of Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak as the Chairman,Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, (AKISIEC).

Others also cleared for appointment as members of the commission are: Mr Patrick Ifon, Mr Matthew UDO, Mr Usoro Ukpana, Mr Sunday Enidiok, Dr Faith Umoh and Mr Eyaekop Umana. (NAN)
