Founder of the National Action Council (NAC), Olapade Agoro, has described the overtures being made by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress as “unholy alliance”.
The political veteran warned APC leadership to be wary of their allies.
Independent reports:
Speaking on the visit of the party’s leadership to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the weekend, Agoro said the collapse of the alliance is just a matter of time because the primary motive of those coming together under the banner of APC was to get the President out at all cost.
“First and foremost, I saw the development as the coming together of the lion and the dog. Buhari and Obasanjo have always been at variance right from their military days.
“It was not hidden that Tinubu once intended joining PDP. He even visited Obasanjo and I am privy to that but due to the irreconcilable differences they had, the deal did not materialise,” Agoro said.
In a related development, a chieftain of the APC in Kaduna State, Mohammed Sani-Bello, on Sunday noted that the future of Nigeria would solely depend on “credible leadership’’.
He made the remark in Zaria while speaking to newsmen shortly after attending a reception organised for Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Interim Chairman of APC in Kaduna State.
Sani-Bello, a one-time governorship aspirant on the platform of CPC, believes that “Nigeria requires credible leaders who will ensure justice, equity and respect for human rights.
“We want to appeal to Nigerians to join hands to salvage Nigeria through the election of credible persons to lead the country,’’ he advised.
Also speaking, Sani Abbas, a former governorship aspirant on the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) platform, said: “This is the first time the opposition is coming together since the constitution of the APC leadership.
“With the three parties coming together, the opposition has now become very strong and reliable,” he said.
A human rights activist, Shehu Sani, in his own remarks, noted that the essence of democracy was to ensure “a better and secured life, a peaceful environment and prosperous future”.
