Photo: Evans Lied About How He Sustained Gunshot Scar, Changes Narrative

3 Min Read

Men of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, have revealed the gunshot scar sustained by billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeje George Onwuamadike alias Evans during a robbery in 2006.

Recall that report had earlier revealed that he was involved in a bank robbery in 2006 where he was shot on his shoulder.

The fresh report however comes contrary to his earlier claim that he was shot by a partner while involved in drug trafficking business in South Africa in 2007.

Evans in a change of tone during an interview where he was confronted with evidence that his gunshot scar was from a gun battle between him and his gang members at the National Theatre in Surulere, Lagos Mainland, admitted that he lied earlier.

The suspect further revealed that he and his gang members after the 2006 robbery got into an argument and which escalated into a fight.

He admitted that the fight led to a gun duel which led to the death of several of their gang members adding that he was seriously injured and abandoned by the others.

He further admitted that he was arrested by the police and transferred along with two others to the Imo State Police Command where they were released.

Speaking on the new information, the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team, IRT boss, Abba Kyari said: “Evans was confronted with the interview on Sunday and he admitted that the bullet wounds are from disagreement over sharing of loot after bank robbery in Lagos in 2006. They shot one another and many gang members died while Evans survived with bullet wounds.”

Abba Kyari further revealed that a Superintendent of Police with the Band section of the Police College in Lagos, identified as Tina tried to get the Police to drop the case against Evans and his men.

Tina was reported to have travelled to Owerri from where a report was sent requesting the transfer of Evans to the command because of another case he was involved in which she claimed was under investigation.

Evans was subsequently released in Owerri.

Police sources have however linked Tina to be a relative of Evans’ mother.
