1. We once heard about the warrior Achilles
Who in a gruesome battle screamed ‘is there no one else?’
Who chose to go to war & perish to be forever remembered
Rather than to follow the quiet path & forever be forgotten
2.We didn’t live in the days of the mythical Achilles
But we saw the magical days of Madiba
The one who fought to hew down racial walls
One we can’t but forever remember as a god
3.As I watched his interment tears welled in my eyes
In wonderment of how a common man became a universal phenomenon
By choosing to be slammed into the dark that his land may find light
A light so bright piercing all of the world
4.What more inspiration can we get in a life time
Than that from a man who in his land embraced Golgotha
All to be resurrected after decades of pains
Transformed into a force so huge to be contained
5.Because he had a dream Africa found a dream
His passions setting countless lives ablaze
Though set free from our sad world his footsteps we still hear
Thuds knocking on our hearts to never sleep
6.How I wish his spirit forever stirs ours
That we may never rest until liberation be found
How I wish that from Nigeria arises a leader
Whose eventual passing will cause the world’s breath to cease
7.After 27 years in a hole we stumbled upon a mystery
A vessel cladded with wisdom,humility & forgiveness
We can’t but forever wonder how the heavens achieved the feat
How the rare gold he is got balanced on a mortal’s feetGold On Mortal’s Feet: Madiba
