The National Industrial Court, Abuja, has fixed June 29 for the Office of the Accountant – General of the Federation to open its defence in a case instituted against it by one Temitope Okemuyiwa.

Other respondents in the matter- Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Civil Service Commission and the Federal Capital Development Authority, will also open their defence on the adjourned date.

The judge, Justice Edith Agbakoba, fixed the date after Mr Chinedu Achumie, counsel to the Federal Ministry of Finance, concluded his cross examination of Okemuyiwa.

Okemuyiwa, an accountant in the Accountant-General’s Office, is challenging the purported termination of her service in 2010.

The claimant is asking the court to prevail on the first respondent to reinstate her to her job.

The aggrieved accountant is also asking for damages as well as other benefits.

The claimant was represented in court by her counsel, Miss Tonia Balogun, while the Federal Civil Service Commission was represented by Mr C. Assan.

The Federal Capital Development Authority was represented by Mr Hassan Omolowo.

However, the Office of the Accountant – General was not represented in court by any counsel.(NAN)
