A Mararaba Upper Area Court in Nasarawa State has dissolved a 10-year-old marriage between one Olusesan Adeyemo and his wife, Rebecca,
Delivering judgment, the judge, Mr Vincent Gwehemba, said the marriage between the two was dissolved due to irreconcilable differences.
Gwehemba said that the union was dissolved on grounds of lack of peace in the home and frequent quarrels.
According to him, both parties had the right to appeal within 30 days if they were not satisfied with the judgment.
Gwehemba also gave Adeyemo custody of two of the three children the marriage produced.
Thirty-six-year-old Adeyemo had earlier prayed the court to dissolve the marriage because Rebecca did not respect him.
“She does not respect me. During most of our arguments, she would pour hot water on me and threaten to kill me,’’ he said.
The father of three said he had tried to make peace with his wife, but she was not ready for reconciliation.
He, therefore, urged the court to dissolve the marriage.
Rebecca did not appear in court even after the judge issued three summons on her to appear and defend herself.
