Pastor Hires Bouncers To Halt Wife’s Burial Over Uncompleted Property Dispute

3 Min Read

A cleric has been accused of disrupting his wife’s burial procession after he reportedly hired some bouncers to disperse friends and family gathered at the occasion.

The cleric, Jacob Oyedeop, an Abuja-based pastor was reported to have over the weekend gathered strong men to disperse the well wishers from a property which the deceased was said to have developed before her death.

Sources claimed the pastor who works at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, lost his wife, Mrs. Christiana Adetola Oyedepo (nee Abu) on May 2, 2017 after a sickness that was said to have lasted for about three months.

She dies ast 45 but the incident which happened at Oke-Andi area of Ilorin, Kwara State, has sparked several speculations and rumors especially as the couple were married for 17 years.

Speculations however exist that the cleric who had four children with the deceased had tried to sell the land and the uncompleted property but noticed that burying the woman on the site would discourage prospective buyers from the property.

Family members of the deceased however claimed the deceased bought and developed the property with loans obtained from a cooperative society and was still servicing the loan when she died.

Other family sources claimed the marriage had been rocky with the woman, a teacher in one of the state’s public schools having lodged complaints of domestic abuse and maltreatment.

Another family source added: “She was head of choir and he was head of Youth team in the church.”

Noting that the couple met in church, the source added: “Our parents never approved of the marriage initially because the deceased just came home to introduce the man and insisted that she was in love with and that he was a good Christian. That was what made us to finally accept. We didn’t know there was a lot of abuse in the marriage until she gave birth to the fourth child and she began to speak about it.”
