2 Min Read

Following the 3-months ultimatum issued by a coalition of Northern youth to the Igbo living in the northern region of the country to vacate their land, reports indicate that Igbo citizens in the land have started relocating away from the region gradually.

According to report by DailyPost, the ultimatum contained in a statement issued by Northern Youth Groups titled “The Kaduna Declaration” has led to the relocation of the Igbos in the region.

The news source in its report disclosed that as of Thursday 8th June, many Igbos are already returning to the East to avoid being harmed.

One of the fleeing Igbo citizens identified as Ifeanyi Odozie, an electric appliance dealer was spotted at the God is Good Motor Park in Mando, Kaduna State making his way out of the region.

He said: “I have been in this place for thirty years but I think I have overstayed my welcome here. I will take my family to the village and return by next week to sell off some of my belongings here.”

Reacting to the federal government’s order calming the Igbos in the northern region, the father of six added: “the federal government wont be there to save us when problem starts.

“Since they gave they order, who has been arrested? I also have my village, it is high time I returned home.”

Another lady identified as Chioma Okoye, also fleeing the north said: “I want to go and rest for a while. I really don’t know what these people are up to. I will come back when they are ready to accommodate us.”
