Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, said on Saturday that the government was satisfied with the quality of the over N602.35 million projects at the State University, Sokoto.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the projects included 60 new offices being constructed at the cost of N 276.75 million, and an ultramodern library being built with N326 million.

The projects were meant to provide conducive atmosphere for effective teaching and learning at the institution.

The governor, who assessed the projects, commended the contractor for adhering to specifications.

He said, ”the contractor has performed excellently and has surpassed payments made to him so far.

” I must also commend the supervising engineers for ensuring that the work is being executed according to specifications.”

Tambuwal pledged to release all outstanding payments for the contracts within a week.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Sahabi Gada, warned contractors that the government would not compromise quality in the execution of its projects.

Meanwhile, Tambuwal had also inspected the level of work on the 1,500 seat International Conference Centre, Kasarawa, near Sokoto.

” I am impressed with the progress of work so far done and the contractor has tried. I am urging him to sustain the tempo,” the governor said.(NAN)
