Youth Corps member abducted in Oniru, kidnappers demand N10 million

1 Min Read

Ayobami Jaiyeola, a National Youth Service Corps member attached to the Lagos State Ministry of Works suddenly disappeared last Friday. The 29 year old University of Maryland graduate who relocated to Nigeria to fulfill her civic obligation and to further her professional career was missing for several days as friends and relatives took their search to social media in desperate hope that someone, somewhere would have information leading to her safe return home.

Relatives of the young woman said a man called them yesterday to inform her that Ayobami had been kidnapped and demanded the sum of N10 million for her release.

A relative said, “We did not speak with Ayobami, but someone called with a private number demanding N10m.

“When we tried to ask further questions about the state of our daughter, the man terminated the call abruptly.”

The case which was initially reported as a missing person case has not turned into an investigation of a kidnapping.

Police authorities say they are actively investigating the matter.
