Fayose Reveals Why He May Have To Leave PDP

2 Min Read

The executive governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has revealed that he may have to leave the major opposition party in the country, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, should the power tussle in the party favour the factional leader of the party, Ali Modu-Sheriff.

Ayodele Fayose made this known to newsmen on Tuesday, May 16 while reacting to media reports which claimed he had removed the party’s logo and name from his campaign office.

Fayose in reaction to the online report which further added that the signposts mounted on Ado and Ikere-Ekiti roads were devoid of association with his political platform noted that he remains a bona fide member of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP and although that might change based on the outcome of the court ruling.

Recall that the PDP leadership tussle was credited to have cost the party major seats in the 2015 elections and had further led to a Supreme Court appeal by the factional leader, Ahmed Makarfi after Ali Modu-Sheriff was declared on February 17 by a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt as the leader of the party hence rendering the caretaker committee headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi illegal.

The apex court will however deliver its judgement in the case between Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu-Sheriff on May 25.
