Buhari Reportedly Demands Amaechi, Fashola And Abba Kyari’s Resignation

2 Min Read

The Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly demanded the resignation of three top members of his cabinet including the former Governor of Rivers State now the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari.

The resignation demand according to a source within the Presidential Villa is connected to the various allegations of corruption levelled against the political office holders.

The source within the presidential villa further revealed that the president is worried about pardoning the top officials in his government, a move which could undermine his current fight against corruption in the country.

The report comes months after a report detailing how the Transportation minister looted the country was published by a UK Newspaper, The Daily Mail on Sunday, May 15, 2016.

The source further added: “The president has been waiting patiently for them to resign.”

When the Senior Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu was contacted by Daily Post regarding the issue, he replied in a text message which read: “I am sorry I am in Abuja and I can’t confirm or deny the report with the president who is now in London. If you can leave me out of this, I will appreciate.”
