Police arrest prophet who collected N70m, 3 houses, 2 cars to heal fibroid

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) have arrested a self-acclaimed prophet in Lagos for obtaining a total sum of N70 million and 3 houses among other items, by falsely pretending to heal a woman of fibroid.

The 45-year-old prophet simply named Oladele was nabbed by operatives from the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Ikoyi.

The police stated that Oladele whose church is located in Oke Ira in the Ogba area of Lagos defrauded the businesswoman of N70m, a duplex, two five-bedroom bungalows, a Lexus and a Toyota Highlander, 2014 model.

The complainant was reportedly told by a medical doctor in 2007 that her womb would have to be removed to heal her of fibroid which she had battled with for 14 years.

She was said to have rejected the doctor’s advice and resorted to a desperate search for an alternative solution, during which she was introduced to the prophet.

It was gathered that the 45-year-old prophet promised to make the fibrous tissue disappear and gave her some concoctions after collecting N98,000 for the service. The bleeding was said to have stopped.

However, the bleeding recurred two weeks after and she returned to the prophet who thereafter devised ways to constantly extort money from her.

It was learnt that the woman’s son suffered a mental breakdown after taking some herb from the prophet. Oladele reportedly took the boy to his town in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, where he was healed.

Punch reports that a police officer at the SFU said, “He told the woman that she must build two five bedroom bungalows for him in Ado Ekiti so that her son’s madness would not return. After she built the houses, he told the woman to stop having sex with her husband if she wanted to live long.

“The woman made several transfers into his three bank accounts. We have been able to get records of the transfers to one of his banks which ran into over N70m.”
