Every mother wants her baby to be healthy, intelligent and smart. Though genetics play a role in deciding how smart your baby will be, a lot of it also depends on other outside factors. There are ways by which you can start making your baby smart while he/she is still in your womb. Read on to know how to make your unborn baby smart.
1. Talk to your baby
It might seem difficult to talk to your baby who is not in front of you, but try feeling the bond and start talking while caressing your stomach. This acts as a stimulant to your baby, helping in the development of his/her brain.
2. Read books with your baby
The baby can hear, so better start reading! The words and sentence structures help in the language development faculties of your baby’s brain.
3. De-stress yourself
The stress and hormones released due to stress in your body can have an adverse effect on your baby’s overall physical and mental development.
4. Have a nutritious diet
Your baby’s brain is developing at a lightning speed and he/she needs all those vital nutrients to develop properly. So make sure you are eating a diet rich in all the vital nutrients. Have a lot of lean proteins. Include eggs. Remember your baby’s brain cells need fat too! Consult with your doctor or a dietician to prepare a proper diet plan.
5. Listen to soothing music
It’s believed that listening to soothing classical music like that of Mozart’s helps in the intelligence of unborn babies. More research is going on in this direction. Nonetheless, listening to music has a good effect on mother and uplifts her mood which is good for the baby too.
6. Don’t forget your nutrient supplements
Besides having a well-balanced diet, you should take your nutrient supplements regularly. This will ensure that you get all the nutrients so that your baby’s growth and development is not compromised at any stage. Remember that you should take only those supplements which have been prescribed by your doctor.
7. Do not smoke
Also, stay away from people who smoke. Passive smoking is as dangerous as active one. Smoking has a very adverse effect on your child’s mental as well as physical development. So stay away from smoking and smokers.
8. Do not consume alcoholic beverages
Alcohol negatively affects your child’s mental faculties and hampers physical growth. So keep your distance from alcohol.

Simply do not indulge in drugs. Even before conception, you should not be doing it for the sake of your unborn baby. The effects of drugs can be quite damaging for your child.
9. Go out and expose your baby to different sounds
Go and take a walk in the park. Be outdoors. Let your baby hear different sounds which will provide diverse stimuli to his/her mind. But remember, you should be comfortable at all times.
