The Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima last night led delegates including some monarchs and top politicians to the home of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to beg him against his earlier decision to suspend Senator Ali Ndume for six months.
Recall that the Senate had suspended Ali Ndume on Wednesday for six months during its plenary session.
The suspension of the lawmaker comes after he called for the investigation of the allegations made by Sahara Reporters against the Senate president and Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye.
Recall that Sahara Reporters had accused the Senate President, Bukola Saraki of importing a Range Rover SUV into the country without paying necessary customs duty.
The online news medium further accused the Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye of of forging his University First degree certificate which he claimed to have obtained from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
However, upon investigation into the cases by the Senate’s committee on Ethics and Priviledges, both claims were found to be false.
Following the result of the probe, Ali Ndume was placed on a six month suspension by the leadership of the house for moving a motion against two of his colleagues without carrying out proper investigation.
