A former Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Andrew Yakubu who was some weeks ago raided by men of the anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the sum of 72,000 pounds and $9.8 million was found in his house has been remanded in Kuje prison.
The former NNPC’s boss’ detention comes after he was arrainged today before a Federal High Court, Abuja on a six-count charge of fraud.
Andrew Yakubu was charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, following the discovery and his confirmation of the ownership of the sums recovered from his Kaduna home during a raid conducted by the anti-graft agency.
Andrew Yakubu in the case pleaded not guilty and was thus ordered to be remanded in Kuje prison by the presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed.
His bail status will however be determined in an hearing scheduled for March 21.
