Benue Govt. pledges to maintain close relationship with Immigration Service

1 Min Read

Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue has promised to sustain the existing cordial working relationship with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Ortom gave the promise on Friday in Makurdi when the Assistant Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr Tino Harry, led other senior officers to pay a courtesy visit on him

The governor said that the state would stand a better chance to benefit from the sustained working relationship.

He pledged not to relent in taking proactive steps with a view to tackling insecurity in the state.

He appealed to the service to upgrade its post at Kwande Local Government Area of the state which is on the border between Nigeria and Cameroon.

Earlier, Harry pointed out that one of the service’s mandate was to curb the influx of criminal elements into the country.

The comptroller said that the service would ensure that the state was rid of illegal immigrants as well as criminals.

He pledged on behalf of the service to ensure that criminal elements flee the state and sued for support of the government for the Service to achieve its target. (NAN)
