NSCDC arrests woman who allegedly stole Pastor’s car

2 Min Read

The Benue Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has arrested a woman, who allegedly stole a Pastor’s car.

Its Commandant, Mr Shuaib Jubril, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Wednesday, that the clergy man was travelling from Taraba State to Makurdi when he lost the car to the woman.

“The Pastor was on his way to Makurdi when the woman took the vehicle; we have already handed the suspect to the police for prosecution,” he said.

Jubril, who was briefing NAN on the activities of the Command during the yuletide, however, refused to give the name of the suspect and the circumstances of the crime.

He commended personnel of the corps for striving toward a crime-free Christmas and new year celebrations, and revealed that many arrests were made and handed over to the police as it was not within the jurisdiction of the corps to prosecute suspects.

Jubril explained that pipeline vandalism had remained a core mandate of NSCDC, but noted that the corps had also done well in the protection of electricity transformers and poles, NITEL cables and other government property.

“We carried out 24-hour surveillance during the yuletide and I am happy to tell you that it was a huge success,” he said.

He said that the corps collaborated with vigilante groups for information that enabled it to secure the facilities from vandals.

Jubril disclosed that more men were deployed for patrol during the celebrations, adding that some patrol teams rescued children from the hands of kidnappers.

Jubril reiterated the need for more synergy among security agencies, pointing out that such unity was very crucial for success in the efforts to rid the society of criminals. (NAN)
