Real Madrid President Florentno Perez feels the club did not pay over the odds to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham.
The Spanish League giants spent a world record 100 million euros to secure the former Tottenham star’s signature.
“Bale came to Madrid relatively cheap”, the President told Cadeva SER
“Signing the best players out there is Madrid’s philosophy and Bale was the best available player this summer. We have been following him for two years.
“ Tottenham initially didn’t want to sell but when we heard Manchester United made an offer, we tabled a bid ourselves. His childhood dream to play for Madrid eventually proved to be decisive.”
The 24-year-old scored on his debut against Villareal, but missed his home debut due to a thigh injury.
He is expected to miss their mid-week game against Elche, but should be match fit in time for the game against Athletico Madrid this weekend.
According to Skysports, the Welshman has already been passed fit for the weekend encounter.
