Chelsea will head into Christmas with a comfortable lead at the top of the English Premier League, courtesy of a string of wins that have extended to 11, following a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace today.
Antonio Conte’s side are in a deadly form this winter. In the previous seasons when Chelsea topped the table at Christmas, they have gone on to win the title.
Diego Costa’s header just before half time gave the blues the win at Selhurst Park and makes it his 13th of the season. Costa continues to be in great form as the leading goal scorer in the league.
In the end, Crystal Palace tried, but Chelsea were too hot to handle.
The only good thing that came out of the match for Chelsea’s foes is that Costa was needlessly booked for dissent, his fifth yellow card of the season, which takes him out of the Boxing Day game with Bournemouth.
