2 Min Read

The President, Muhammadu Buhari has in response to the protest staged at the National Assembly by members of the national female football team, Super Falcons, yesterday issued a swift order demanding the champions be paid their owed allowances.

Recall that the Super Falcons who won the African Women Championship which held in Cameroon had been stuck in their hotel room in Abuja following the non-payment of their allowances by the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF.

The Super Falcons in anticipation of the president’s visit to the National Assembly yesterday to present the details of the 2017 Budget draft took to the National Assembly entrance with placards to express their dissatisfaction.

Speaking on the latest development, Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to the president disclosed that the president ordered payment of the team members’ outstanding allowances.

He further stated that the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung and the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun were summoned by the president over the issue.

Kyari while fielding questions said: “The problem has been resolved. They have done us proud and we congratulated them.

“The ministries of sport and finance have been ordered to pay them tomorrow.‎ I don’t know the details of the arrears but they have been directed to pay.”
