Recession: Cleric admonish Nigerians to appreciate God

4 Min Read

A Christian cleric from Gombe State, Rev. Tortuman Danbauchi, on Sunday admonished Nigerians to always give thanks to God in spite of current economic recession.

Danbauchi also urged Nigerians to appreciate God no matter the difficult situation they face.

Danbauchi, who is the Chairman of Evangelical Church of West African (ECWA) DCC, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe state, gave the admonition at the thanksgiving service and Presentation of biography of Uehra-Sheh (Sarki) of Kube Chiefdom in Nasarawa state, Mr Christopher Jatau.

The service and presentation of the Second Class monarch’s biography was held at Government Junior Secondary School, Kube, Panda Development Area of Nasarawa State.

The cleric, who described the traditional ruler as a man of integrity, detribalised leader and a peace promoter, urged people to always pray for the monarch for God to continue to guide and protect his life.

Danbauchi, who took his reading from Psalm 92, said it was good to say thank you to the Lord and to sing praises to God who is above all gods no matter the situation one found him/her self so as to get more God blessings and favour.

“We have all gathered here today to celebrate with our monarch and to appreciate God for saving his life from different forms of accident type as well as to thank God for protecting him as it is good to always give thanks to God.

“In thanking God, we are making our requests known to Him and we will get more blessings and God will surely come to the aid of the people and the country at large.

“If we give thanks to God, He will favour the country; He will locate us and will take the country to the top.

“I want to urge all of us and other Nigerians to continue to give thanks to God no matter our situation because as we thank God and continue to pray, He will roll away our challenges and we will be better and the nation will also be better,” he said.

The cleric urged the congregation to live a holy life and an examplary lifestyle by shunning all negative tendencies in the society, stressing that it is only righteousness that could exalt a nation.

On his part, Jatau said that he decided to organise the thanksgiving so as to appreciate God for saving him from various types of accidents.

“In my life, I have recorded about five different accidents when I was using motorcycle and I also had some dangerous motor accidents and the recent one, precisely on March 10th this year occurred along Nassarawa Eggon road.

“I don’t know how it happened but I thank God for saving my life, my driver life and my friend’s life.

“Indeed, if you read my biography, you can see that my personal life has not be easy at all, that is why I always thank God, hence the need for this thanksgiving service and the presentation of my biography,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the second class monarch also donated a big standard Ambo (Bible stand) to the ECWA prayer house of Kube as part of his spiritual appreciation to the church.

NAN also reports that Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Solomon Ewuga, traditional rulers and religion leaders, among other speakers, urged people to continue to pray for a peaceful reign and commended the celebrant for promoting peace in his domain and the state at large. (NAN)
