Impeached South Korean President Park, apologizes for political chaos

South Korean President, Park Guen -Hye, who was impeached recently has tendered an apology to the people of South Korea for the political chaos experienced during her tenure.

The ex-President, said this in a televised statement after parliament passed a motion of impeachment.

South Korean President Park Geun-Hye apologised Friday for the political “chaos” in the country and urged the government to remain vigilant on the economy and national security.

She said, “I am so sorry for all South Koreans that I created this national chaos with my carelessness when our country faces so many difficulties, from the economy to national defence,” Park said in a televised statement after parliament passed a motion of impeachment.

Park Geun-hye is the 11th President of South Korea. Due to the ratification of her impeachment proposal her presidential powers and duties were suspended since 9 December 2016, and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn has assumed those powers and duties as Acting President, until her impeachment.

Park, the first woman to be elected as President of South Korea, served the 18th presidential term. She was the first female president of a Northeast Asian nation and the third female (first to be elected) to act as head of state in East Asia.
