A 23-year old woman, Hadiza Shehu was arrested by the Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, for dumping her baby in the toilet.
Hadiza who gave birth to the child in the night, was apprehended while dropping her new born baby boy in a pit toilet in Yankoli Quarters, Hadejia Local Government Area of the state.
State Commander of NSCDC, Dr. Muhammad Gidado confirmed in a statement that in the course of investigation, Hadiza admitted the crime.
Gidado added that the lady claimed she went to the Mallam to seek for prayers for protection against her boyfriend, but ended up becoming the Mallam bedmate.
The State Commander also noted that the Mallam has been arrested and detained for further questioning, adding that after investigation, the two suspects would be charged to court.
According to Hadiza, one Muhammad Akarami, 42, was responsible for the pregnancy, allegedly told her to dump the baby in a toilet after delivery.
The Mallam, who is alleged to be a fake Mallam, told her that it was a divine revelation and threatened that if she refused, she would either die or go mad.
